About The Self Assessment Tool

The Bigger Picture offers a wide and potentially overwhelming range of options for consideration as part of a comprehensive local safety knowledge system. This assessment creates recommendations which can assist individuals in cities to navigate the options for strengthening knowledge systems from the perspective of one specific city or neighbourhood.

HOW IT WORKS:
In the assessment, you will be prompted to reflect on the status of safety knowledge systems in your city. As you conduct the assessment you can collect information for your own consideration on the status of various factors in your city and come to your own conclusions about appropriate and effective steps that you can take to begin implementing the Bigger Picture approach in your city. You are not limited by the recommendations emerging from the assessment.
THE OUTCOME:
You will be prompted to engage with indicators most relevant to your city’s circumstances. These are the indicators where you might most effectively begin your Bigger Picture knowledge system journey. Engagement with these indicators will offer you a range of measures from which you can choose, to identify where you can begin to build systems and capacity, to prompt your city to take steps towards a systemic, comprehensive, innovative and democratic approach to local safety knowledge.

While the indicator prompts from this assessment offer a starting point for your city’s institutional journey, it is also useful and important to understand such critical safety indicators as human rights, justice and human dynamism. These are linked to key safety outcomes which your knowledge system will be set up to measure and enable.
